Mt. Fuji Eco-Tour Instructor Training Course for Dentsu Group Employee Volunteers

Partner

NPO Fujisan Eco Net

Project Overview

The Aokigahara Forest area at the foot of Mt. Fuji is one of the world's natural treasure troves, receiving approximately 40,000 visitors annually. In an effort to express to children the depth of the natural splendor of Mt. Fuji and foster in them a respect for nature, in 2003 Dentsu began soliciting volunteers from among Dentsu Group employees to serve as “Mt. Fuji Eco-Tour Instructors,” providing them with training to help convey the natural wonders of Mt. Fuji.

These training courses consist of a basic course on the nature, history and culture of Mt. Fuji, followed by a practical guidance course conducted on site at the Aokigahara Forest area at the foot of Mt. Fuji by Fujisan Eco Net specialists and experienced instructors. A total of 25 Dentsu employee instructors had been trained through these programs as of August 2008, and are serving as volunteer eco-tour instructors mainly for junior high and elementary school students. Dentsu also shares this initiative with Dentsu Group employees and their families, each year conducting a “Mt. Fuji Eco-Tour Guided by Dentsu Employees” for them to experience the eco-tour.
