Dentsu Prize for Student Essays on Advertising
Dentsu established a prize for the best student essay on advertising in 1949 with the aim of helping university and high school students understand the meaning of advertising in society. In 1952 the competition gained the backing of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture (currently the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology), which continues to this day. The 2009 event will be the 61st year for the prize. Dentsu receives approximately 3,000 entries annually to this competition.
