“Value Creation ACT”: a human resources program focused on positive work-life balance, and continuous personal development

The vision of the Dentsu Group is to become “A Partner in Creating Value.” This means that we must thoroughly understand our clients, the media and consumers, and succeed in creating new value so that we may continue to be chosen as a partner by all three parties. Moreover, at Dentsu we always strive to take advantage of the respective strengths of all our Group companies, to optimize the relations between these three parties and play a role in maintaining the circular flow of the economy. A “rich and rewarding life” gives rise to “high-quality work,” and at the same time “satisfying work” helps to raise the level of “life satisfaction.” It is precisely these types of synergies that Dentsu aims to create by helping Dentsu employees to achieve a “positive work-life balance.” Dentsu believes that achieving a healthy balance between work and private life opens the way for employees and the Company to attain even further growth as “A Partner in Creating Value.” To promote a positive and healthy work-life balance, Dentsu has established a “Career Design & Work/Life Balance Section” at its Tokyo Head Office Human Resources Division, and has added work/life support functions to the personnel sections at its Kansai and Chubu branches. To provide further support for a diverse range of work styles, Dentsu offers time off or leaves of absence for childbirth, child care, nursing care and care of the elderly.

At Dentsu, human resource development means much more than just “training.” We consider all work as part of a process of movement in which every job provides an opportunity for personal growth through cooperation and friendly competition. Value Creation ACT is designed to help each employee become a true partner to our clients and to create value. This program involves the restructuring of our human resources development system (a “Shift to Value Creation”) and various schemes to “Increase the Value of Our Human Resources.” Value Creation ACT consists of “Programs for Cultivating Insight” that include level-based training, OJT, and professional education at each division, along with “Programs for the Emergence of New Business Seeds” in which inter-disciplinary teams learn together through dynamic interaction. Through the implementation of these programs, Dentsu aims to nurture an atmosphere characterized by a shared vision, and steady development of the Dentsu Way (work styles that create new value). The Dentsu Group is also instituting a variety of other measures to foster an open and vigorous corporate culture, and reinforce the human relations that unite all our employees.
