Dentsu Unveils New Corporate Logo — To Be in Official Use Beginning December 1 —
Dentsu Inc. (President: Tateo Mataki; Head Office: Tokyo; Capital: 58,967.1 million yen), which began preparing for the reestablishment of its visual identity (VI) in October 2001, unveiled a new corporate logo today, to mark the anniversary of its corporate foundation. The new VI system based on the new corporate logo will be officially in place throughout the Group starting December 1, 2002, to complement the corporate relocation to the new Head Office Building in Tokyo's Shiodome area.
On the occasion of its IPO last November, Dentsu renewed its commitment to society as a public company, and as the Dentsu Group, it set out to provide increasingly sophisticated services around the globe amid major changes in the communications business.
In this connection, Dentsu decided to recreate its VI to symbolize its renewed commitments. For this purpose, the Company held an internal competition to devise a new logo suitable for a highly integrated firm offering the best communications services possible.
The entries in the competition, totaling 146 applications –all from internal sources –were judged on an impartial basis using a criterion that called for the logo design to serve as a symbol guaranteeing the high standard of work for which Dentsu is noted and the values it continues to create. One design was selected as a result.
The new logo design symbolizes a communications company of 21st century professionals capable of conducting confident, meaningful dialogue with the world.
