As a communications company with social responsibility, the Dentsu Group considers it essential for every employee to be committed to both respecting and safeguarding human rights through a deep understanding and acquirement of accurate knowledge. Toward this end, Dentsu established the "Educational Committee on Human Rights" in 1987 to provide education for our employees and to pursue activities related to human rights based on a policy of applying that knowledge in the workplace. Dentsu has also established a department focused on studying the relationship between expression in advertising and human rights. We believe that the promotion of activities that incorporate a human rights perspective leads to the enrichment of advertising communications.
Human rights issues need to be addressed by all stakeholders, not just on an individual basis. The knowledge we gain from information-sharing with human rights groups and corporate education personnel is shared throughout the advertising industry as a whole through in-house human rights awareness activities, seminars and other events held by the Japan Advertising Agencies Association. We are also dedicated to promoting a culture respectful of human rights by conducting seminars in compliance with requests from local governments and corporations. As part of our in-house educational activities, Dentsu solicits human rights slogans from employees and their families to produce human rights posters, an activity that has been going on for many years. Local governments often request the use of these posters, where they are exhibited at events promoting human rights. |
