The Dentsu Advertising Awards
The Dentsu Advertising Awards were established in 1947 for the purpose of raising the standards of advertising planning and creativity in Japan. The Awards as they had existed prior to the Second World War had been discontinued, so the Dentsu Advertising Awards were established with a new philosophy and character. The inaugural award was presented in 1948 to Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. for its "National Personal Radio." The first and second awards focused on newspaper advertisements alone, but starting with the third award in 1950 a second category was established for magazine advertisements. The original spirit has continued to this day, and new sections and categories have been added for new media. 2005 marked the 58th annual Dentsu Advertising Awards. A new category for Internet advertising was established this year, creating a total of 39 awards in 8 categories. |
