Robin Chen
Chief Financial Officer, Greater North, dentsu APAC
Born in North East China, Robin emigrated to Australia in 1987 after obtaining his post-graduate degree of Chemical Engineering & Machinery. He continued his studies at the Macquarie University in Professional Accounting becoming a member of CPA. In 1995, Robin became the Finance Director at D’Arcy (DMB&B) Australia and started his finance officer career in the media and advertising industry.
In 1997, Robin joined WPP Batey Singapore and took the position of COO and CFO. At the end of 1998, Robin re-joined D’Arcy network and was sent to HK as Finance Director and later as COO of Greater China. In 1999, leading his joint team from D’Arcy, MediaVest, Leo Burnett and Starcom, Robin successfully completed the global merger assignment and won global DMG’s Excellence Award for Leadership.
With the rapid growth of the Chinese market, Robin established branch offices in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing in China. In 2003, Robin fully devoted his time to Starcom MediaVest network as its APAC CFO and took charge of Asia Pacific markets. In 2005, he continued his APAC CFO role in combined Publicis Groupe Media network consisting of Starcom MediaVest and ZenithOptimedia brands. In 2008, he assumed the position of CFO Asia Pacific of VivaKi (a holding company of Starcom MediaVest, ZenithOptimedia, Digitas, Razorfish and VivaKi Tech Center), and also spent 18 months looking after VivaKi Exchange China as its Chairman.
In 2011, Robin became the Executive Director, Operations & Partnerships of VivaKi APAC, focusing in M&A, Business Operations & Partnerships.
Robin has joined dentsu as Chief Financial Officer, Greater North, dentsu Asia Pacific since June 2021. He will drive dentsu’s growth with his extensive experience across both Finance and Operations.
