Dentsu Aegis Network today announces the acquisition of Newcastle-based commercial production company, re:production.

re:production, which was founded in 2010 by managing partners Stevey Hunneysett and Phil Greenwood, delivers high-quality production solutions for TV commercials, animation and idents, and radio from its dedicated studios in Newcastle. The agency employs 12 people who work with leading directors to create award-winning productions for advertising agencies and brands across the UK such as Dreams, Lookers, Sage, Flymo & Ronseal.

The re:production team will continue to be led by Hunneysett and Greenwood who will oversee its integration into Dentsu Aegis Network’s northern operations. Dentsu Aegis Network employs 775 people across Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh and Newcastle, providing media, digital, creative, data and technology services for clients such as N Brown Group, Pets at Home, Thomas Cook, Halfords, and Holland & Barrett.

The acquisition further demonstrates Dentsu Aegis Network’s commitment to strengthening its capabilities throughout the UK. It also follows the acquisitions of two other creative businesses in Manchester-based BJL and Whitespace in Edinburgh in the last twelve months alone.

Euan Jarvie, Chief Executive, Dentsu Aegis Network UK & Ireland said: “re:production is a great cultural fit for our network as we look to grow. This move underlines our commitment to be a multi-centred UK business. It extends our presence and means we can maximise the opportunity for talent while also strengthening our capabilities and improving engagement with clients. I’m looking forward to seeing the outstanding work that re:production produce as part of this.”

Rachel McDonald, Managing Director - North, Dentsu Aegis Network said: “re:production’s heritage in delivering stand-out work makes it a market leader in an area that we want to grow as a business. Content sits at the heart of what we do as a business, especially as clients look for more sophisticated ways of engaging with their customers. The addition of re:production marks a huge step forward for our ability to produce and distribute that content.”

Steve Hunneysett, Managing Partner, re:production said: “Over the last decade we’ve worked hard to establish the business as one of the largest and most successful commercial producers in the North of England. Joining Dentsu Aegis Network now opens up a whole host of new opportunities by allowing us to tap into the complementary services that if offers. This will help consolidate our position as a market leader in the production of TV commercials and social media content for the retail sector, and provide further opportunities to grow.”

Phil Greenwood, Managing Partner, re:production said: “The industry we operate in is changing as businesses look for more sophisticated ways to make and distribute content, so we need to change with it. It is the right time for us to take the next step by working in a connected business like Dentsu Aegis Network to ensure the continued growth of our business, for our clients, team and suppliers. As such, we’ll continue to produce top quality work, with our clients at the centre of everything we do, for many years to come."

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
