Dentsu names André Andrade CEO EMEA

Dentsu today announced the appointment of André Andrade as CEO, dentsu EMEA overseeing the integrated growth strategy and business execution for dentsu within the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region. Andrade joins the community of Regional CEOs overseen by Giulio Malegori, recently appointed Group Chief Operating Officer, Dentsu Group Inc.

Andrade has been part of dentsu for nearly 20 years demonstrating a proven ability to drive growth and scale client relationships across EMEA markets. Since 2004 he has served as CEO, dentsu Portugal, CEO of dentsu Spain & Portugal and further assumed the responsibility CEO Iberia & Sub-Saharan Africa (IBSSA) in 2013.

In this most recent role, Andrade significantly grew revenue and performance in the IBSSA cluster and delivered a successful acquisition plan that integrated ten operations across media, creative, content and data bringing new capabilities and talent to dentsu teams, delivering on a true one dentsu market offering. Andrade also overseas dentsu’s Client & Solutions Hub for EMEA, in charge of driving client-centric strategy for integrated growth solutions across the region.

André Andrade joined dentsu (Aegis Media at the time) in 2004 as CEO of Portugal. In 2011, he moved to Madrid, managing Spain and Portugal, assuming the responsibility of IBSSA in 2013.   

In early 2023, Andrade took the additional responsibility to lead the Client & Solutions hub for EMEA. He was appointed EMEA CEO in October 2023 and is a member of the Dentsu Group Executive Management team. 

Andrade started his career in marketing at P&G in 1992. In 1996, André moved to the Portuguese industrial and retail group Jerónimo Martins where he held roles in category management, sales and general management across various parts of the business. In 2002, he moved to Brazil as CEO of Cintra breweries, where he stayed until returning to Portugal and joining dentsu.   

Under his decade long tenure as IBSSA CEO, the region grew its revenue by 5 and profits by 20, having been for the last 4 years the leading agency group in Spain, the leading media agency in Portugal and the fastest growing network in Africa. This was delivered by organic growth and a highly successful acquisition plan, integrating over ten operations ranging from media, creative, content and data that brought new capabilities and talent to the dentsu proposition, under a true one dentsu market offering. As CEO, dentsu EMEA, Andrade leads over 16,000 people across 45 markets in delivering innovation and people centred transformation for clients.
