Dentsu Aegis Network and NZME have partnered to integrate live Covid-19 reporting into the New Zealand Herald website.

Dentsu Aegis Network are powering interactive, real-time Covid-19 charts and graphs within NZ Herald articles. Based on a live, global database assembled from multiple sources, the charts enable real-time comparisons between New Zealand and hundreds of countries around the world. Metrics include percentage of population infected & tested, percentage of deaths and live vs recovered cases.

It’s been a true team effort between the Head of Data Journalism, Chris Knox at the NZ Herald and the Dentsu Data Team, led by Bram Stevens.

Richard Pook, GM Products, Partners and Platforms at Dentsu said that both team have done an incredible job turning this around in record time. “They might look simple but these data visualisations were extremely complex to build”

Bram Stevens, Head of Data & Technology at Dentsu said, “ I’m really proud to see my team’s skills and expertise in data engineeringdata visualisation and data science being put to use on this innovative project”

Paul Hancox, Chief Revenue Officer at NZME said, “This is a great example of how the media industry can collaborate in new and exciting ways, even in challenging times like these”

The NZ Herald will use these graphs in numerous Covid-19 articles and pages over the next few weeks to keep Kiwis in the know.
