With the promulgation of Taiwan's Climate Change Response Act, a clear net-zero emissions target for 2050 has been set. By responding to the government, corporations and the public must act together to tackle climate change.
As a member of Taiwan, we believe that a sustainable future lies in the hands of children. The key is to instill the concept in children right from elementary education and guide them to become “Sustainability leaders”.

The Challenge
With the promulgation of Taiwan's Climate Change Response Act, a clear net-zero emissions target for 2050 has been set. By responding to the government, corporations and the public must act together to tackle climate change.
As a member of Taiwan, we believe that a sustainable future lies in the hands of children. The key is to instill the concept in children right from elementary education and guide them to become “Sustainability leaders”.
We will launch a seed program to build a positive cycle system where corporations influence schools, schools influence students, students influence families, families influence communities, and communities influence corporations, leading Taiwan to a better future.
The Solution
We brought corporates, schools, and a social enterprise together to launch the “Sustainability Leader” program. Using TSD’s “Textbook on Sustainable Development” as the case library, we selected a highly familiar topic—convenience-store low-carbon diets—and paired it with an action journal so students’ learning and behavior change could be tracked. The program was piloted across five classes in two elementary schools in Tainan, combining experiential visits and at-home action plans. Learnings from the pilot were then packaged into a ready-to-adopt teaching kit and briefing sessions to enable replication across more schools.
The Results
150 participants (students & teachers), delivering 1.5× KPI—strong buy-in from the pilot schools.
1,350 total learning/action hours, indicating deep engagement beyond attendance.
Ripple effect: reached 600+ principals/teachers and 800+ families, strengthening school–home dialogue and adoption readiness.
Earned impact: generated NTD 7.8M in media value and received formal recognition from the Tainan City Government Education Bureau, supporting wider rollout.
Innovating to Impact
In promoting sustainable development, the typical approach follows a top-down model: government legislation > corporate initiatives > public action. However, we believe that sustainability is not a one-way influence. By instilling sustainable values in children from an early age and guiding them to become “sustainability leaders,” their actions can in turn influence businesses—and even governments—from the bottom up. That’s why we launched the “Sustainability Leader” program, aiming to create a positive feedback loop among corporations, schools, students, families, and communities.
