Yuko Kitakaze

Global Chief Sustainability Officer, dentsu

Yuko is the Global Chief Sustainability Officer at dentsu and a member of the Global Management Team. She leads the development and implementation of the Group’s Sustainability Strategy and serves as Chair of the Group Sustainability Committee. She is also a Director of Dentsu Inc. (appointed in 2025). Previously having served as Chief Sustainability Officer for dentsu Japan, she assumed her current global role in 2024.

Since her appointment, Yuko has driven a significant uplift in dentsu’s non-financial performance. Under her leadership, dentsu achieved major advancements in several globally recognized external ratings including being selected for the first time as an ‘A List’ company in the Climate Change category in CDP’s 2025 assessment as well as receiving an upgraded rating from MSCI ESG Ratings, among other improvements.

Yuko has also been recognized internationally, appearing as a panelist at the World Economic Forum in 2023, serving as a Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity SDGs Category Juror in 2024, and receiving a WBCSD Leading Women Award in 2025. 

She joined Dentsu Inc. in 1992, later founding the company's first consumer insight laboratory, “Mama Lab” in 2008. Her career includes roles as Managing Director of the Creative Planning Division, Executive Officer, and the first Chief Diversity Officer of Dentsu Japan Network.
