Challenge
We noticed that social issue like this one, especially in small village area, is hard to draw people’s attention, let alone making the society to take action. We also discovered that tourists are not motivated to visit Yuan Bay for vacation. Fortunately, we realized that Taiwanese audiences crave reality shows that turn celebrities’ real lives into TV programs. So, we created a 16-day celebrity challenge reality show: “Welcome BAYk”.
This meant creating new business models for dining and an updated vibe that would bring people back. While giving TV audience reason to visit, creating job opportunities for local youth is our goal. This immersive experiential reality program allows the public to pay attention to Yuan Bay issues at ease, create motivation for tourists to visit, and came out with a sustainable solution to improve the economy of Yuan Bay.
Solution
Ten well-known artists created a business model, packaged Yuan Bay as a destination for tourists to experience travel in extraordinary ways, to attract the youth to come BAYk and take over. For the restaurant, talent used local ingredients and designed exclusive menus, allowing tourists to create unforgettable memories in Yuan Bay. And to enhance the emotional experience for tourists, we reimagined the concept of the petting zoo with furry-lebrities to help make the island a destination for families. To push things even further, we created a marine conservation tour and that centered around coral restoration, ensuring the preservation of Yuan Bay’s stunning marine ecology as tourism is revived.
“Welcome BAYk” is an innovative solution, which created growth through good, and positively impacted people, planet, and society.
Result
By creating the reality show tailor-made for Yuan Bay. It achieves unprecedented solutions through entertaining brand content, generating public interest, creating brand differentiation, aims to address deeper issues such as cultural disappearance, economic decline, and population outflow.
The results derived from the program include a theme song MV with over 1.49 million views, the show‘s official page receiving over 500 messages of booking accommodations on Yuan Bay, and multiple platforms competing to broadcast the program. Creating a new island name: 耍廢島 (continuously used by the Penghu Government for tourism development, creating lasting influence). Program segments will be provided to Penghu Government for future city promotions, leveraging the show's contagious appeal.
