Toronto, Canada – Dentsu Canada announced today the promotion of Stephen Kiely to CEO. This role will see Stephen leading the Canadian market with the continued ambition to be a beacon of constant innovation and force for good.

Stephen is a marketing leader with over 18 years of experience in marketing strategy, innovative branding, and content marketing. Known for his ability to connect people and ideas, Stephen has led the development of powerful campaigns for the world’s top brands such as Toyota, Lexus, Canon, Uniqlo, Subway, American Express, and National Post to name a few.

Jacki Kelly, dentsu Americas CEO:

“I am thrilled to announce that we have appointed Stephen Kiely as the next CEO of dentsu Canada.  Stephen has been a celebrated leader, trusted advisor and radical collaborator at dentsu for the last 18 years.

Starting off in our media group, Stephen quickly established himself as a thought leader for our key clients, overseeing a portfolio of world-class brands. He then pivoted his focus to our creative business, driving big bold ideas for some of Canada’s top brands including Toyota, Lexus, Subway, American Express and cementing Canada as a centre of excellence for our clients’ global work.

Most recently, Stephen has led the Creative Service Line in Canada, bringing together dentsuMB, Isobar, dentsuOne, dentsu Studios, Antibody and ICUC into one strong unified collection of talent. Stephen believes that a strong team and an even stronger culture are what drive success in our business. He is the definition of a people-first leader. I am confident Stephen will be a force for good and ensure a seamless transition as he and the rest of the leadership team finalize the plans for 2022 and beyond.”

Stephen Kiely, CEO dentsu Canada:

“Dentsu is a dynamic and modern organization, with a unique cultural heritage rooted in Japan. For over 18 years I’ve been so impressed and touched by the resilience, authenticity and openness of all my dentsu colleagues. I’m really excited to continue to build on our fantastic momentum in Canada.

My entire career has been driven by the ambition to transform the agencies and network I was part of and build brands and businesses with the belief that a single idea can change business and the world, for the better. Now, as CEO, I want to continue to aim to nuture a business and workplace culture of collaboration to create high value solutions, measurable impact and business results.”

As Stephen transitions into his new role as CEO, he will continue to lead the Creative Service Line while candidates are being considered.

Footnote: In 2021, Jeff Greenspoon expanded his remit into a regional Americas executive role as President, Solutions Americas - leading our integrated strategy, client management and innovation groups. Jeff will now have a primary focus on Solutions in the Americas but will compliment that with an expanded remit in the Group Solutions Office at Dentsu Group Inc. In this expanded remit, he will help operationalize and scale our integrated network strategy globally and unlock group level capabilities around key industry verticals. He will also focus on building a strong connection between dentsu International and DJN (dentsu Japan Network).
